The U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara is located at Av. Manuel Acuña #3410, Col. Monraz, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and is open Monday-Friday, from 8:00 to 4:00. The U.S. Consulate General in Guadalajara’s telephone number is (333) 111-7800 (we do not have a fax number anymore). U.S. citizens in Mexico requiring emergency services can call (55) 8526-2561 (from Mexico) & 1-844-528-6611 (from the United States).

The Consulate General of the United States’ U.S Citizens Services unit assists with:

Passport Services (Applications, Renewals and reports of Stolen or Lost Passports). Standard renewals using form DS-82 can be completed online and submitted via the mail – no trip to the consulate necessary.  Other types of passport services may require a personal interview with consular staff, and require an appointment made online. Documentation of lost or stolen passports may be completed on-line, but acquiring a new passport generally requires an appointment for personal interview at the consulate. All passport service payments should be completed using these pay.gov links: for the DS-82 at DS-82 pay.gov; for the DS-11 at DS-11 pay.gov. For more info on pay.gov please view this video.

  • Citizenship Services including reports of children born to U. S. citizens in Mexico and reports of death of U.S. citizens in Mexico.
  • Notary Services. These services are available by appointment only limited days of each week.

Please note: There is no walk-in service for United States citizens who require any of the listed services. If the on-line process determines that a personal interview is required, it will link you to a secondary program in which you can select a date and time for your appointment at the Consulate.   On-line requests for any of the listed services begin on the Consulate web site HERE.

NOTE: The U.S. Department of State does not provide Social Security assistance, but the U.S. Consulate General Guadalajara has a Federal Benefits Units branch on-site. If you need Social Security information or help, contact the Federal Benefits Unit by email. For more information, CLICK HERE.

Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)

We strongly recommend that U.S. citizens traveling to or residing in Mexico enroll in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) HERE. Please re-enroll in the new modernized STEP system if you were enrolled prior to September 16, 2024. STEP enrollment gives you the latest security updates and makes it easier for the U.S. embassy or nearest U.S. consulate to contact you in an emergency. If you don’t have Internet access, enroll directly with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
