The Audio Books Library

This LCS library boasts a wide selection of books on tape and CDs from an array of popular authors to the obscure.  Genres range from Spanish lessons, mysteries, the Bible, the classics, as well as books on ancient Japanese history.

Talking Books Library
Talking Books is a free program provided by the US National Library Service (NLS) (LINK TO NLS HERE) and offered as a service through the LCS. The NLS has an on-line catalog of full-length fiction, non-fiction books and magazines

Who is Eligible?

• US citizens
• The visually impaired
• Anyone unable to read due to physical limitations
• LCS membership is not required

The Application Process

LCS Talking Books volunteers have been authorized by the NSL to qualify applicants, making the application process simple:

• An LCS Talking Books volunteer will meet with an applicant (or his/her representative) to complete the application form
• At this time the applicant will need to provide a copy of the face page of their US passport
• No supporting medical documentation is required
• The LCS Talking Books volunteer will submit the application to the NSL in Washington D.C.

While the application is being processed, applicants can borrow a cassette player and digital cassettes from the LCS Talking Books Library

How to Receive Audio Material

• Once approved by the NSL, participants receive a free specially designed cassette player to use for life
• Audio materials can be ordered from a bi-monthly catalogue mailed directly to a participant, or on-line at THE NLS
• Materials can be returned to the LCS Talking Books Library, or directly to the NLS postage paid
